Carla Sánchez Cordero

Hello!

Carla is a visual artist whose work explores the emotional and psychological resonance of color through the language of lyrical abstraction. Trained in Graphic and Pictorial Research with a specialization in painting at the École des Arts in Braine-l’Alleud, her practice draws influence from Color Field Painting and Abstract Expressionism while maintaining a distinctly personal and contemporary perspective.

Through layered, translucent compositions, she creates immersive visual environments where color becomes a language of introspection, presence, and emotional depth. Working within the tradition of lyrical abstraction and rejecting figuration, her paintings invite quiet, contemplative engagement through hue, transparency, and space.

Her work has been featured in group exhibitions across Belgium, including Parce Initiative, Galerie du Môle, VP Art Gallery, and Centre Culturel Kontakt.

In addition to her artistic practice, Carla is a trained lawyer and sociology teacher. She is the founder of Ikal Art Projects, an initiative dedicated to amplifying the visibility of Latin American artists in Belgium.
